Small Whale with Fisherman Porcelain Limoges Box

A small whale shares the scene with a finely detailed fisherman, a sea story told in miniature. Painted by hand in Limoges, France, this porcelain Limoges box carries a salty maritime spirit.

A Tale From the Harbor

Stories of fishermen and whales have filled sea shanties and novels for centuries. This box captures that relationship in a friendly way, with the detailed fisherman giving the scene a human touch beside the whale.

Whale Ho

• Small whale with a detailed fisherman
• Fits an ocean, fishing or nautical collection
• Pairs with lighthouse, boat and anchor pieces

For Old Salts and Sea Dogs

Give it to a commercial fisherman, a sailor, a whale watching enthusiast, or a fan of Moby Dick. It also suits someone retiring to a coastal town or a family that summers on Cape Cod. Set it on a shelf in a beach cottage, on a desk beside a ship in a bottle, or among nautical pieces in a den. Each scene is painted by hand, so the whale and fisherman vary slightly in color from piece to piece.

Craft From Kaolin Country

Limoges porcelain owes its start to kaolin, a pure white clay found near Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche in 1768. The region has been firing and painting porcelain ever since the late 1700s.
