Flat Round Yellow Limoges Pill Box with Florals
Low, round and wearing a coat of cheerful yellow, this little pill box is covered in hand-painted flowers from edge to edge. It is a hand-painted Limoges box, made of porcelain and decorated in Limoges, France.
Sunflower Fields, Pocket Sized
The flat round is one of the oldest and simplest Limoges shapes, and its slim profile puts all the attention on the painted lid. Here the yellow ground and scattered florals feel like a summer meadow seen from above, bright without being loud.
Small Box, Easy Homes
- Slides neatly onto a crowded nightstand or desk
- Holds a pair of earrings or a few tablets on a vanity tray
- Fits a floral, yellow or traditional pill box grouping
Where the Pill Box Began
Small porcelain boxes became the fashion in eighteenth-century France, carried in pockets and reticules to hold snuff, pills and beauty patches. Limoges was well placed to make them, since porcelain production took hold there in the late 1700s after kaolin was found nearby.
For a first Limoges box, or for a friend who simply loves the color yellow, this flat round is a sunny and sensible choice.
