Rochard Cable Car Limoges Box, San Francisco Trolley
Bells clanging and hills ahead, the San Francisco trolley rolls onto the shelf in this Rochard design. It is a Limoges box shaped like the famous cable car, decorated by hand in Limoges, France.
Halfway to the Stars
San Francisco's cable cars have climbed Powell and California Streets since the 1870s, and riders still hang off the running boards for the view of the bay. Rochard turned that living landmark into porcelain. The painting is all handwork, so the colors and trim carry an artist's touch.

From Nob Hill to Your Mantel
Give it to someone who left their heart in San Francisco, a couple back from a Napa and city getaway, or a friend moving west for a new job. It looks right on a desk, a bookshelf, or a travel shelf with postcards from the Golden Gate. Retired rail fans and streetcar buffs also enjoy it as a reminder of one of the last working cable car systems in the world.
