Black Upright Piano Hand-Painted Limoges Box

A black upright piano, complete with painted music, makes this a natural piece for anyone who has ever practiced scales after school. It is porcelain shaped and painted by hand in Limoges, France, as a Limoges box with a musical heart.

Keys to the Parlor

For generations the upright piano was the center of family life, tucked against the parlor wall and surrounded by singers on holidays. Its tall cabinet and glossy black finish make a classic subject, and the music adds the sense that someone has just stepped away mid-song.

Notes for the Music Room

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• Belongs in a music, piano or recital themed collection
• Pairs with violin, harp and metronome pieces

An Encore for Teachers and Players

Give it to a piano teacher at the end of the recital season, a student who just passed a conservatory audition, or a church accompanist who has played for years. Set it on top of a real piano, beside a stack of sheet music, or on a shelf in the music room. It also makes a gentle remembrance of a parent or grandparent who filled the house with music.
