House Scene Needle Box Porcelain Limoges Box

A painted house scene decorates this porcelain needle box, a slim and practical shape made for the sewing basket. Artists in Limoges, France, painted the scene by hand on this hand-painted Limoges box.

Home Sweet Sewing Room

The needle box is a useful, sewing table form, and this one pairs it with a cozy picture of home. The house scene gives it a storybook warmth, like a cottage glimpsed at the end of a country lane.

Stitch and Thread Companions

• Sits beside a pincushion, thimble and spools of thread
• Pairs with sewing machine, button and scissors pieces
• Fits a sewing, home or village scene collection

For the Quilter and the Homebody

Give it to a quilter finishing a big project, a seamstress who altered a wedding dress, or a friend who just closed on her first house. It also makes a meaningful housewarming present, a little porcelain portrait of the idea of home.

Painted After Firing

Many Limoges boxes are painted by hand after the white porcelain is fired, and a small scene like this one rewards a close look. Keep it on a sewing table, a mantel or a bookshelf beside framed family photos.
