Ocean Scene on an Easel Porcelain Limoges Box

A painter's easel holds an ocean scene, with waves and sea painted onto a tiny canvas, in this artful porcelain box. Every brushstroke on the miniature painting was applied by hand in Limoges, France, on a Limoges box for art and sea fans.

A Seascape in Miniature

The easel is the artist's oldest companion, and an ocean view is one of painting's most loved subjects, from Monet's Normandy coast to Winslow Homer's Maine. This piece combines both, a painting within a painting that celebrates the joy of capturing the sea on canvas. It is a quiet tribute to plein air painters who set up on the dunes at dawn.

For the Artist in Your Life

Give it to a painter after a first gallery show, an art teacher at the end of the year, or a friend who just moved to the coast. It looks lovely in a studio, on a beach house shelf or beside a collection of seascapes. Art museum volunteers and docents also appreciate the nod to the painter's craft.
