Green Handbag Limoges Box with Hand-Painted Roses

Roses painted on a green porcelain purse look a lot like blooms set against their own leaves, which is exactly why this pairing works. It is a hand-painted Limoges box, made in Limoges, France, in a tidy handbag shape.

Roses Among the Leaves

Green is the natural partner for roses, and here it gives the flowers a fresh, garden-picked look. The handbag outline is classic and simple, so the painted roses carry the whole design. Each rose is brushed in by hand, which means the blooms vary a little from purse to purse.

The Gardener's Shelf

• Pairs with watering can and flower pot pieces

June Birthdays and Garden Club Thanks

The rose is the June birth flower, so this purse is a thoughtful pick for a June birthday. It also makes a fine thank you for a garden club president or a neighbor who shares cuttings. Display it in a sunroom, on a potting bench shelf indoors, or on a dresser where the green adds a calm note among pinker pieces.
