Rochard Santa Claus with Woodland Animals Limoges Box
Santa Claus pauses in the forest surrounded by woodland animals, a quiet moment before the busy night begins. Rochard made this scene as a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, painted in Limoges, France.
A Visit to the Forest
Not every Santa piece is about the sleigh and the chimneys. This one shows a gentler side, with the woodland creatures gathered around as if they too were waiting for their presents. It suits a cabin Christmas, a nature lover's holiday or a home that leans toward evergreens and pinecones over tinsel.
Gathering of the Woodland Friends
- A Rochard piece, hand-painted in Limoges, France
- Pairs with deer, fox, bear and owl subjects
- Fits a Santa, woodland or rustic Christmas collection
Cabin Christmas Mantel
Place it on a log cabin mantel, a sideboard with greenery and candles, or a bookshelf in a mountain lodge. It makes a kind present for a wildlife rehabber, a park ranger, a hunter who loves the woods in winter, or a grandparent who feeds every bird and squirrel in the yard. It also suits a family that spends Christmas at the lake house.
Porcelain boxes like this one go through many hands in Limoges, from shaping and firing to hand painting, before they are finished.
