Green Teapot Coffee Pot Porcelain Limoges Box

A plump green pot with a curved spout and a looping handle looks ready for either morning coffee or afternoon tea. This hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, made in Limoges, France, is a miniature of the pot that sits at the heart of so many kitchens.

The Kettle's Green Cousin

Green is a fresh choice for a teapot, calling to mind garden parties and spring china patterns. The color is brushed on by hand, so the depth of the green shifts slightly from piece to piece. The rounded body and classic spout keep the design simple and familiar.

Set Out for Company

Many people collect miniature teapots by color, and this green example fills an important gap in that rainbow. On a china hutch, a kitchen open shelf or a tea tray, it adds a soft pop of color. It makes a kind thank-you for a friend who always has the kettle on, or a welcome present for a coffee drinker who loves a good pot shaped piece.

Porcelain has been made in Limoges since the late 1700s, after fine white kaolin was found near Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche in 1768.
