Spinning Top Toy Porcelain Limoges Box for Baby

A classic spinning top, the toy that wobbles and whirls across a nursery floor, takes shape here in fired porcelain. It is a hand-painted Limoges box made in Limoges, France, a small toy that never needs winding.

Round and Round the Nursery

Spinning tops have been around for centuries, and their rounded shape is familiar to every generation. That makes this box a gentle bridge between grandparents and a new baby, a toy everyone in the family remembers. Its colors are applied by hand, so each one leaves the painter's bench a little different.

A Top for Every Milestone

Bring it to a baby shower, tuck it into a christening basket, or set it out at a first birthday party. Later it can rest on a nursery dresser or a bookshelf, then move to a curio cabinet when the nursery days are over. Collectors of toy themed boxes like it for the same reason parents do: it is simple, cheerful and easy to recognize.
