La Gloriette Teddy Bear on Block Limoges Box

A soft little teddy bear perches on top of a toy block, the kind of scene that belongs on a nursery shelf. This is a La Gloriette piece, a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box made in Limoges, France.

Building Blocks of Babyhood

Teddy bears and wooden blocks are two of the oldest nursery companions, and putting them together makes for a gentle, familiar picture. The bear sits upright as if keeping watch over the room, while the block gives the piece a sturdy base and a playful, toy-chest feel.

The La Gloriette Touch

La Gloriette is known for friendly, approachable subjects painted in clear, cheerful colors. This bear fits that style well, with a simple pose and an easy charm that suits both a new parent and a grown collector of teddy bears.

From Nursery to Curio

• A La Gloriette piece, hand-painted in Limoges, France
• Belongs with teddy bear, nursery or toy box themed groupings
• A sweet baby shower, first birthday or christening present

Many families start it out on a changing table or a bookshelf beside the rocking chair, then move it to a glass cabinet once the baby years are behind them. Either way it carries the memory of those first small days.
