Pink Teddy Bear with Drum Limoges Box

A pink teddy bear sits with a little toy drum, ready to tap out a marching beat, on this porcelain box. It is hand-painted and made in Limoges, France, a nursery favorite with a musical twist.

Marching to a Tiny Drum

Teddy bears have been nursery companions for more than a century, and adding a drum gives this one a bit of personality beyond the usual seated bear. The soft pink makes it a natural fit for a baby girl, while the drum hints at parades, toy soldiers and holiday mornings. Because the bear and drum are painted by hand, each box has its own small differences.

Drumroll for a Milestone

It suits a baby shower, a christening, a first birthday or a first Christmas, and it slips easily into a holiday stocking for a grown teddy bear collector. Grandparents often choose a piece like this for their own shelf, as a reminder of a new grandchild. Set it on a nursery shelf, a dresser or among a row of bears in a curio cabinet.
