Christmas Rocking Horse Limoges Box

A Christmas rocking horse, the classic toy of holiday mornings, stands ready to ride on this festive Limoges box, shaped and painted by hand in Limoges, France.

Giddy Up, Santa's Coming

For generations the rocking horse waited under the tree as the grandest toy of all, painted, saddled and ready for a first ride. That image of an old fashioned Christmas morning is what this piece brings to the shelf.

First Christmas Memories

A rocking horse is a natural choice for a baby's first Christmas, especially for parents and grandparents who want something that will come out every December for years to come. It also makes a warm holiday thank you for a teacher or a hostess.

Set it on the mantel among evergreen garland, on a side table beside a stack of wrapped presents, or near the tree where it seems to have just been unwrapped. Collectors who build a Christmas toy shelf often start with a rocking horse, since it captures the feeling of the season in one familiar silhouette, and it pairs beautifully with a porcelain teddy bear or train.
