Teddy Bear Sitting in a Block Limoges Box

A teddy bear sits snugly inside a toy block on this porcelain box, two old-fashioned playthings combined into one sweet piece. The bear and block were painted by hand in Limoges, France, as a Limoges box.

Building Blocks and Bear Hugs

Wooden alphabet blocks and stuffed bears are among the most familiar toys of all, and putting them together creates a piece full of warmth. The bear peeks out from its block as if it has found the coziest seat in the toy chest. Hand painting gives each one slight differences in color and expression.

For Bear Collectors Everywhere

Teddy bear collectors are a devoted bunch, and this piece makes a happy addition to their shelves. It also suits a new grandparent, a christening or baptism, a baby shower hostess thank-you, or a friend who still keeps a well-loved old bear on the bed.

Place it on a dresser, a bookcase or a curio shelf among other toys. Its soft, homey subject brings comfort to any room, and since every piece is painted by hand, no two bears look quite the same.
