Blue Bow Teddy Bear Limoges Box

A soft teddy bear with a blue bow tied at his neck sits as the figure on this porcelain box. Brushed by hand in Limoges, France, he joins the family of teddy bear designs with a calm, friendly look.

True Blue Friend

Teddy bears earned their place as faithful companions more than a century ago, and a bow has dressed them up for special days ever since. In blue, this one has a fresh, easygoing feel, a little less formal than his burgundy-bowed cousin.

Bears of a Feather

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• Fits a teddy bear, toy or nursery collection
• Pairs with the burgundy bow bear for a matched pair

Showers, Grandparents and Birthdays

Set him on a nursery shelf, a bedside table or in a cabinet with other bear figurines. He makes a nice present for a baby shower, a new grandparent, or a birthday for someone who never outgrew a love of teddy bears. Collectors often display him with the other bow bears, letting the colors tell them apart.

Many Limoges boxes are hand-painted only after the white porcelain has been through the kiln, and their metal mounts are attached by hand. That slow method gives each bear his own small quirks.
