Astronaut with American Flag on Moon Limoges Box
An astronaut stands on the lunar surface and salutes the American flag in this hand-painted porcelain Limoges box. Made in Limoges, France, it recalls one of the proudest moments of the twentieth century.
One Small Step
When the first astronauts planted the flag on the moon in July 1969, much of the world stopped to watch. This scene captures that salute, with the suited figure, the flag and the gray moonscape all painted by hand, so each box carries its own small variations.
Mission Control Picks
It is a natural choice for an aerospace engineer, a pilot, or a science teacher who has inspired a classroom to look up. Veterans, Fourth of July hosts and anyone who has toured Cape Canaveral or the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum will appreciate it as well. It also makes a fine retirement present for someone who spent a career at NASA or a defense contractor.
