Bird on Garden Mailbox Limoges Box

A little bird has stopped to rest on top of a garden mailbox, as if waiting for the morning post. This porcelain figurine box is a Limoges box made in Limoges, France, and painted by hand.

Waiting for the Mail

The mailbox is a miniature, not a working one, and the bird perched on it turns it into a tiny scene from a country road. It has the friendly, everyday feel of a front yard on a quiet morning. Garden colors and a small songbird make it easy to place in almost any room.

A Welcome for New Homeowners

Because a mailbox stands for home and good news, this piece makes a warm housewarming gift or a thank you for a mail carrier. Bird watchers and pen pals will enjoy it too. Set it in an entry hall near where the mail lands, on a desk with a stack of stationery, or on a kitchen windowsill facing the bird feeder.
