Rochard Lemur Monkey Porcelain Limoges Box

A lemur, the wide-eyed primate found only on Madagascar, is the playful subject of this Rochard Limoges box. Rochard hand-painted it in Limoges, France, bringing an island native to the collector's shelf.

Island of the Lemurs

Madagascar split from the African mainland millions of years ago, and lemurs evolved there into dozens of species found nowhere else on earth. With their long tails and curious faces, they are among the most charming animals in the wild.
