Spanish Bullfighting Arena Limoges Box by Rochard
The sand, the stands and the swirl of a red cape: this Rochard box turns a Spanish bullfighting arena into a porcelain scene, complete with a red cape that lifts away. It is hand-painted and made in Limoges, France.
Olé in Miniature
Spain's great round bullrings, from Madrid's Las Ventas to the old ring in Ronda, are landmarks in their own right, as much about architecture and pageantry as sport. Rochard shaped the arena as the box and added the cape as a removable accent, so it can rest on top or lie beside the ring on display.

After the Fiesta
This makes a lively memento for anyone back from Seville, Madrid or Andalusia, for a Spanish language teacher, or for a family with roots in Spain. Set it on a bookcase among travel guides, on a desk near a framed photo from the trip, or in a curio cabinet beside other landmark boxes. Keep the cape with the arena; without it the scene is missing its brightest note.
A Long Porcelain Story
Limoges has made porcelain since the late 1700s, when deposits of fine white kaolin clay were found near Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche.
