ABC Mice Alphabet Porcelain Limoges Box
A little group of mice gathers around the letters A, B and C as if school is about to begin. This hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, made in Limoges, France, brings together two favorite themes: tiny critters and the alphabet.
Learning Their Letters
The ABC theme has always been a favorite for first birthdays and new arrivals, and the mice give it a gentle sense of fun. Each mouse and each letter is painted by hand, so the shading and expressions change subtly from box to box.
Who Gets the Mice
- New parents setting up a nursery reading corner
- A teacher at the end of a busy school year
- A mouse collector who loves a playful scene
Shelf Time Stories
It sits comfortably on a nursery bookshelf among picture books, on a teacher's desk or in a cabinet with other mouse pieces. Paired with a building block or schoolhouse box, it makes a small learning themed display. This is hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France, and its friendly scene makes it an easy piece to love for readers of any age.
Many Limoges boxes are painted by hand after the white porcelain has been fired, and their metal mounts are fitted by hand as well.
