Parakeet in a Birdcage Limoges Box

A little parakeet perches inside its birdcage on this Limoges box, a cheerful pet bird captured in hand-painted porcelain. It was made in Limoges, France.

A Song From the Parlor

For generations a parakeet in the front room brought chatter and color to the household, greeting everyone who came through the door. This piece honors that feathered family member, along with the cage that kept it company.

For Every Bird Fancier

This makes a sweet present for someone who keeps budgies or other pet birds, a birdwatcher, an avian veterinarian, or a friend who misses a beloved bird. It also suits a birthday, a housewarming or a thank you for a pet sitter who looked after the flock.

Set it on a windowsill where real birds pass by, on a side table in the sunroom, or in a curio among other bird figures. Birdcage designs are a favorite among collectors because they combine a pet subject with a decorative frame, and the parakeet gives this one a friendly, personal touch.
