Rochard Blue Birds and Eggs Porcelain Limoges Box

Blue birds tend their porcelain eggs, a tiny nest scene full of spring promise. This is a Rochard piece, made as a Limoges box and painted entirely by hand in Limoges, France.

Bluebirds of Happiness

Blue birds have long stood for joy and good fortune, and their return each spring is one of the season's best signs. Here the birds and their eggs form a small scene, with the eggs crafted in porcelain beside them. Every feather and shell is brushed by hand.

The Songbird Shelf

• A Rochard bird design, hand-painted in Limoges, France
• Fits a songbird, spring or garden collection
• Pairs with birdhouse, nest, butterfly and flower boxes

For the Backyard Birder

Set it near a window that looks out on the feeder, on a sunroom shelf, or on a desk beside a field guide. It is a fine present for a backyard birder, an Audubon volunteer, a new mother, or anyone welcoming a fresh start, since nesting birds are a classic sign of new life.

Limoges porcelain is hard-paste, fired at very high heat so that even delicate details such as small eggs stay crisp. The decoration is added afterward with a brush.
