Blue Pencil Porcelain Limoges Box

A blue pencil, ready for the next idea, is the shape of this porcelain box. Hand-painted in Limoges, France, this Limoges box pays a small tribute to sketchbooks, crossword puzzles and the first lessons of every school day.

Pencils Down, Ideas Up

Before keyboards, nearly every idea started with a pencil. This blue one honors that humble tool, the kind found in every desk drawer and behind every artist's ear, now captured in porcelain that never needs sharpening.

For Writers and Artists

Who Will Write It In

Teachers, illustrators, authors and crossword devotees will all see something of themselves here. It makes a thoughtful thank-you at the end of a school year, a present for a newly published writer or a celebration of a first art show.

A Place on the Desk

Rest it on a writing desk beside a cup of real pencils, on a studio shelf among sketchbooks or on a classroom bookcase at home. Paired with the red pencil, it makes a bright matching set.
