Rochard Burgundy Egg Limoges Box Figurine with Stripes

Stripes wrap around a burgundy egg in this tailored Rochard box, giving a familiar shape a crisp, almost menswear look. Ground and stripes alike are hand-painted on porcelain in Limoges, France.

Pinstripes in Porcelain

Most egg boxes lean toward flowers and pastels, so a striped burgundy egg stands apart right away. The lines follow the curve of the shell, which makes the shape feel even rounder. Rochard paints each stripe by hand, which means each egg carries tiny variations in spacing and tone.

Not Just for Easter

The deep color and orderly pattern let this egg stay out all year, on a mantel in winter as easily as on a spring table. It looks especially good on dark wood furniture or beside leather-bound books, where the burgundy feels at home.

Pairing the Burgundy Eggs

• A Rochard egg from the Limoges workshops
• Belongs in an egg, Easter or burgundy collection
• Makes a fine contrast with the floral burgundy eggs in the same family

As a present, it suits someone whose taste runs classic rather than frilly: a father who collects eggs, a friend with a book-lined study, or a host who loves rich colors. Tuck a pair of cufflinks or a favorite ring inside, and set it on a sideboard or a glass shelf.
