Multicolor Butterfly Limoges Box

Painted in a riot of colors, this butterfly Limoges box looks as if it has just landed on the shelf. It is hand-painted porcelain made in Limoges, France, with every hue applied by brush.

A Kaleidoscope on the Wing

Butterflies have long stood for change, renewal and joy, and their wings give painters a perfect excuse to use every color on the palette. This one makes the most of that, turning a small porcelain shape into a burst of garden color.

Moments of Transformation

Because the butterfly speaks of new beginnings, this piece suits a graduation, a recovery, a new job, a move or a fresh start after a hard season. It also makes a cheerful spring birthday present and a thoughtful remembrance for someone who loved butterflies in the garden.

Set it on a sunny windowsill, a garden room shelf, or a dresser beside a vase of fresh flowers, where its colors can play off real blooms. Butterfly collectors often seek out pieces with bold, varied colors, and this one brings plenty of them to a grouping.
