A cat plays with a ball while a butterfly flits nearby, a lively moment of feline mischief caught in porcelain. Painters in Limoges, France, finished this Limoges box entirely by hand.

Paws in Motion

Every cat owner knows the scene: a toy on the floor and a butterfly at the window, and suddenly the cat cannot decide which to chase. This box captures that playful energy, giving it a sense of action not often seen among calmer sitting cat pieces.

Chasing the Butterfly

  • Cat at play with a ball and a butterfly
  • Fits a cat, pet or garden collection
  • Pairs with yarn ball, kitten and butterfly pieces

For the Playful Cat Household

Give it to a friend whose cat never stops playing, a new kitten owner, or a pet sitter as a thank-you. It also suits someone who loves both cats and gardens, since the butterfly ties the two together. Set it on a windowsill where real butterflies pass by, a bookshelf of pet photos, or a curio cabinet of feline pieces. Because each one is painted by hand, the cat, ball and butterfly vary slightly in color from box to box, so every piece has its own personality.
