Hanging a birdhouse is one of the simplest pleasures of gardening, and watching the first pair move in is even better. This piece captures that backyard ritual. The red roof makes it easy to pick out on a shelf, just as a real one stands out against green leaves.

Where Bird Watchers Gather

Set it on a kitchen windowsill facing the feeder, a sunroom table or a potting bench shelf. It makes a warm housewarming present for a family in a new house, a thank-you for a garden club volunteer, or a birthday surprise for anyone who keeps binoculars by the back door. Bird watchers and gardeners both tend to enjoy it, and it fits right in with cottage decor, where painted birdhouses have always been a favorite accent.
