Green and Red Birdhouse Limoges Box

A green and red birdhouse stands ready for its first feathered tenants, as cheerful as a spring morning in the backyard. Limoges painters in France decorated this porcelain box entirely by hand.

Vacancy for Songbirds

Few things say home like a birdhouse, and the bold green and red colors give this one a lively, garden party look. The painters finish each piece by hand, so the trim and colors vary slightly from box to box.

Backyard Birding Notes

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• Pairs with the birdhouse on stand and love bird pieces
• Fits a garden, bird or backyard collection

Nesting on the Windowsill

Place it on a windowsill that looks out over the feeders, on a potting bench shelf or on a desk beside a field guide. It suits a backyard birder who keeps a life list, a friend who builds real birdhouses in the garage, or a gardener whose yard is always full of chickadees and wrens.

It is also a warm present for a housewarming, since a birdhouse is a small symbol of a new nest. The red and green palette also makes it a natural choice for a holiday shelf in December, so it can move from spring garden display to Christmas mantel without looking out of place, earning its spot through every season.
