Ms Rabbit with a Watering Can Limoges Box

Ms Rabbit has her watering can in hand and the spring garden on her mind in this hand-painted porcelain Limoges box. It was made in Limoges, France, and it has all the gentle charm of a storybook illustration.

Tending the Carrot Patch

Rabbits and gardens have a long and playful history, usually with the rabbit sneaking a carrot or two. Here Ms Rabbit is the gardener herself, carefully watering her rows. It is a sweet reversal that makes the piece feel warm and a little humorous.

Easter Morning Surprises

Small porcelain boxes became fashionable in 18th-century France for keeping snuff, pills and beauty patches, and garden animals like this one keep that playful tradition going. It makes a lovely present for a gardener, a garden club friend, or an Easter morning table. Set it among potted herbs on a kitchen windowsill, on a sunroom shelf or in a spring display with eggs and tulips. Rabbit collectors will be glad to add such a hardworking bunny.
