Mini Chick Hatching from Egg Porcelain Limoges Box

A tiny chick pushes its way out of the shell, taking its first look at the world. This hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, made in Limoges, France, captures the very first moment of spring on the farm.

Cracking Into Spring

Hatching chicks have long stood for new beginnings, which is why they turn up every Easter and every spring. The fluffy chick and its broken shell are painted by hand, so the yellow and white tones vary slightly from piece to piece.

Barnyard Beginnings

Place it among hens, roosters and farm animal pieces for a little barnyard scene, or in an Easter basket beside dyed eggs. It also looks charming on a kitchen windowsill, a breakfast nook shelf or a spring mantel with tulips and daffodils.

New Life, New Start

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France

Backyard chicken keepers, farmers and anyone who has watched eggs hatch will appreciate the moment it captures. It is a small, cheerful sign that spring has truly arrived.
