Rochard Tread Flag Limoges Box, Gadsden Banner Design

The Gadsden banner, a coiled rattlesnake on a field of yellow warning all comers not to tread on it, is the bold subject of this Rochard Limoges box. Rochard had it hand-painted in Limoges, France, honoring one of the oldest flags in American history.

A Rattlesnake for Liberty

Designed by Christopher Gadsden during the American Revolution, this flag flew with the first Continental Navy and became an early symbol of independence. Its warning to tread carefully has made it a lasting emblem of American resolve.

Colonial Colors

• A Rochard design, hand-painted in Limoges, France
• Fits a patriotic, flag or American history collection
• Pairs with Liberty Bell, eagle, Betsy Ross flag and Capitol boxes

For the History Shelf

Set it on a study desk, a bookcase beside books on the Revolution, or a Fourth of July display. It makes a meaningful present for a Navy or Marine Corps veteran, a history teacher, a Revolutionary War reenactor, or someone who traces their family to the colonial era. Flag collectors appreciate it as a counterpart to the Stars and Stripes.

Rochard's American flag designs are popular with patriotic collectors, and the Gadsden banner adds an early chapter to that story.
