Monarch Butterfly Double Hinged Rochard Limoges Box

Monarch wings spread wide on this double hinged box, a butterfly caught mid-flight on its long journey south. It is a Rochard Limoges box, porcelain painted by hand in Limoges, France.

On Monarch Wings

The butterfly forms the box, and it is double hinged according to its listing, so each side can be opened on its own. Monarchs are famous for their migration, traveling thousands of miles each year to winter in the mountains of Mexico. Rochard's critter line includes many garden creatures, and the monarch is one of its most striking.

Garden of Flight

Transformation and Hope

Butterflies often stand for change, renewal and remembrance, which makes this piece meaningful for a graduation, a recovery, a new chapter, or a memorial. It also suits a gardener who plants milkweed, a nature photographer, or a teacher who raises caterpillars every spring. Set it on a sunny windowsill, a garden room shelf or a nightstand where those bright wings can catch the light.
