Rochard Dreaming Cat and Mouse Porcelain Limoges Box

Lost in a happy dream, a cat naps while a mouse keeps it company in the scene. This hand-painted porcelain Limoges box was made by Rochard in Limoges, France.

Whiskers and Daydreams

Cats sleep a good part of every day, and anyone who has watched one twitch mid-nap has wondered what it is chasing. Rochard answers with a mouse, the classic cartoon rival, turning a quiet moment into a little joke that every cat household understands.

The Cat Nap Collection

• A Rochard cat piece, hand-painted in Limoges, France
• Belongs with cat, kitten and pet themed boxes
• Pairs well with yarn ball, fishbowl and sleeping kitten pieces

Sunny Windowsill Spot

Place it where a real cat would choose to nap: a sunny windowsill, a reading chair side table or the top of a bookcase. It makes a playful present for a new kitten adopter, a thank-you for a cat sitter or veterinarian, or a gentle remembrance for a beloved cat who has gone to sleep for good.

Small Boxes, Big History

Tiny porcelain boxes were a fashion at the eighteenth-century French court, where they held snuff, pills and beauty patches. Today they hold stories like this one instead.
