Flamingo in the Water Porcelain Limoges Box

A flamingo wades through the water on this tropical box, standing tall in the shallows the way these birds always seem to. It is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box made in Limoges, France, and it brings a bit of Florida sunshine to any shelf.

Pink in the Shallows

Flamingos owe their famous color to the shrimp and algae they eat, and they spend much of their day wading in lagoons and salt flats. This piece catches that familiar pose in the water, a calm and graceful moment rather than a busy one.

Sunshine State of Mind

It belongs on a shelf in a beach condo, a lanai side table or a powder room done in coral and teal. It is a natural pick for a winter birthday when the recipient is dreaming of warmer places, a retirement to Florida, or a birdwatcher's collection. Friends who keep a pink plastic flamingo on the lawn will enjoy its more refined cousin.
