Rochard Flower and Garden Spade Porcelain Limoges Box

A flower and a garden spade make a happy pair in this small porcelain box for anyone who loves digging in the dirt. Rochard sculpted the piece and painted it by hand in Limoges, France.

Planting Season

Every garden starts with a spade and a single bloom, and Rochard captures that hopeful moment when the soil is turned and the first flower goes in. The flower and tool are painted by hand, so each piece shows small variations in shade and detail.

Fired in Limoges, Grown in Your Garden

Limoges porcelain has been made since the late 1700s, after kaolin, a fine white clay, was found near Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche in 1768. This little spade carries that tradition into the potting shed. Set it on a windowsill above the herb pots, a greenhouse shelf, or a desk where spring can never come soon enough. It makes a cheerful present for a master gardener, a garden club president, a new homeowner planting a first bed, or a mother who taught the family to grow roses.
