Frog with Baby Frog Rochard Limoges Box
A grown frog sits with a tiny baby frog close by, a little pond family taking in the afternoon together. The little family is a Rochard design, a porcelain Limoges box shaped and hand-painted in Limoges, France.
Hop, Skip and a Little One
Parent and young share the same piece, modeled as one small scene. It adds a family note to a theme frog collectors already love, and it makes a sweet counterpoint to single frog boxes on the same shelf. Rochard keeps the subject simple and lets the pairing tell the story.
Born in White Gold
Limoges porcelain is a true hard-paste porcelain, fired at very high heat until it turns bright and strong. Only then do painters begin their work by hand, one color at a time. That long process is part of why collectors value boxes from this region.
