Little Frog on a Lillypad Porcelain Limoges Box

Here a little frog sits on a round lillypad, as calm as a pond on a still summer morning. It is a small hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, made and painted in Limoges, France.

Sitting Pretty on the Pond

The round pad makes the base and the frog sits on top, so the piece has a tidy, compact outline that fits almost anywhere. It is a natural companion to the floating lily pad frog, and the two together make a fine start on a miniature pond.

Who Will Croak With Joy

This frog suits a gardener, a nature walker, a friend with a backyard water feature or anyone who has ever stopped to listen to spring peepers at dusk. It also makes a light-hearted birthday present for someone whose nickname happens to be Froggy.

Pond Scene Building Blocks

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• Belongs with a frog, pond or nature grouping
• Combine with turtle, duck and fish pieces for a water garden shelf

Painted After the Firing

Many Limoges boxes are painted by hand after the white porcelain has been fired, and their metal mounts are fitted by hand as well. Give this frog a spot on a potting bench shelf, a sunroom table or a bathroom vanity.
