Frog Perched on Mushrooms Limoges Box

A frog sits perched on top of a cluster of mushrooms on this porcelain box, as if surveying the forest floor after a spring rain. The detailed scene was painted by hand in Limoges, France, on a Limoges box.

King of the Toadstools

Frogs and mushrooms belong together in fairy tales, garden lore and woodland walks. This piece captures that pairing with careful detail, so the frog seems ready to hop off at any moment. Because each one is painted by hand, the colors on the frog and mushrooms differ a little from box to box.

Woodland Floor Finds

Leap Into Celebration

Frog collectors are a lively bunch, and this makes a fine addition for one of them. It also suits a gardener, a mushroom forager, a biology teacher, or a friend who keeps a frog statue by the front door. Some people give frogs as a symbol of good luck and new beginnings, making it a nice housewarming or graduation present.

Place it on a windowsill near houseplants, a garden room shelf or a bookcase in the study. Paired with other woodland pieces, it creates a small forest scene on a single shelf.
