Rochard Jack O Lantern Limoges Box with Witch Hat
A jack o lantern has dressed up for the night in a witch's hat. Rochard turned this Halloween pairing into a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, made in Limoges, France.
Carved for the Coven
Jack o lanterns began in Ireland, where carvers used turnips to ward off wandering spirits, before immigrants in America switched to the bigger, easier pumpkin. The pointed witch's hat came from folklore and storybook illustrations. Together they make a classic Halloween character that is more mischievous than frightening.

On the Porch and the Mantel
Bring it out in early October and set it on a mantel, a front hall table or a windowsill with a view of the trick or treaters. It makes a fun hostess present for a Halloween party, a teacher's desk surprise, or a birthday treat for anyone lucky enough to be born in the spookiest month of the year.
