Jester Round Porcelain Limoges Box

A jester brings a bit of royal court mischief to this round porcelain box. It was painted by hand in Limoges, France, and the playful subject makes it a lively change from floral traditional pieces.

Fools of the Royal Court

In medieval and Renaissance courts, the jester was the one person allowed to tease the king, and he often spoke the truth wrapped in a joke. That spirit of good humor is what makes a jester piece such fun to own and to give.

Jokes on a Round Stage

• Painted by hand on porcelain in Limoges, France
• Fits a jester, theater, circus or carnival collection
• Pairs well with harlequin, clown and masquerade pieces

Curtain Call Moments

Set it in a music room, near a theater program collection, or on a desk where it can lighten a long workday. It makes a fitting opening night present for an actor, a thank-you for a community theater director, or a birthday surprise for the friend who always tells the best jokes. April Fools' Day is another natural occasion. A round box with a lighthearted subject also mixes easily with traditional pieces on a curio shelf.
