Lion and Cub Porcelain Limoges Box by Rochard

A lion and a young cub share this proud porcelain portrait from the African plains. Rochard modeled the pair as a Limoges box and painted them by hand in Limoges, France.

Pride of the Savanna

Lions are the only big cats that live in family groups, called prides, and cubs grow up surrounded by watchful adults. Rochard captures that bond between strength and tenderness in one small sculpture. Every detail is brushed on by hand, so no two pairs leave the studio exactly alike.

A Roaring Welcome

Place it in a curio cabinet with other wildlife, on a study bookshelf, or near photos from a safari trip. The parent and young theme makes it a fine pick for a new father, a grandparent welcoming a first grandchild, or anyone born under the sign of Leo. It also makes a fitting memento for a traveler returning from Kenya or Tanzania, or a fan of big cats who never misses a wildlife documentary.
