Rochard Paris Louvre Glass Pyramid Limoges Box
The glass pyramid of the Louvre rises over the museum courtyard on this Rochard porcelain box, a modern landmark set in the heart of historic Paris. It was painted by hand in Limoges, France.
Entrance to the Masterworks
When the pyramid opened as the new entrance to the Louvre, plenty of Parisians called it a mistake. Today it is one of the most photographed spots in the city, the doorway millions pass through on their way to see the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. Rochard captures that striking geometry in porcelain.

After the Museum Visit
It is a lovely keepsake after a first trip to Paris, a day spent wandering the galleries, or a semester abroad. Give it to an art history graduate, a museum volunteer, an architect, or a friend who has a print of a famous painting over the sofa. Set it on a bookshelf beside museum guides, on a desk, or among other Paris pieces on a curio shelf.
A Clay Found in 1768
Limoges porcelain began after kaolin, a fine white clay, was found near Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche in 1768, and the city has been making porcelain ever since.
