Orchid on Dark Blue Porcelain Limoges Box
An orchid in full bloom is painted against a dark blue background on this shaped porcelain box, the bloom standing out against the night-toned ground. The flower was painted by hand in Limoges, France, on a Limoges box.
An Orchid at Midnight
Orchids are prized for their elegance and their long-lasting blooms, and setting one against dark blue gives it a dramatic, gallery-like presence. The shaped form of the box adds interest beyond a simple round or square. Painting by hand gives every orchid its own slight variations.

Blooms That Never Fade
Orchid growers are passionate about their plants, and this piece offers a bloom that lasts forever. It suits an orchid society member, a botanist, a florist, or a friend who keeps a windowsill of phalaenopsis. It also works for an anniversary, a birthday or a thank-you for a gracious hostess.
Place it in a sunroom beside living orchids, on a bedside table, or in a curio cabinet where the dark ground sets it apart from lighter floral boxes. Each hand-painted orchid is a little different from the next.
