Heart Shaped Limoges Box with Orchids
Orchids, with their elegant curving petals, are painted across this heart-shaped box in place of the usual roses. It is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box made in Limoges, France, and the exotic bloom gives a classic romantic shape a graceful, greenhouse air.
A Greenhouse Romance
Orchids have a reputation for being both delicate and long-lived, which makes them a fitting flower for a heart. Painted on porcelain they never need misting or a south-facing window, and they keep their color season after season on the shelf.
For the Orchid Grower
- Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
- Fits orchid, floral and heart groupings
- Pairs with butterfly, hummingbird and garden pieces
Moments It Marks
Anyone who nurses a row of orchids on the kitchen sill will smile at this one. It suits a Mother's Day thank-you, an anniversary, a birthday for a devoted gardener, or a token for someone who has just joined an orchid society.
Bloom Where It Is Placed
Give it a spot near real potted orchids so the painted and living flowers echo each other. It also looks lovely on a bedside table or tucked among framed botanical prints in a hallway.
