Rochard Purple Pansy Flower Porcelain Limoges Box

With its cheerful little face, the pansy has been a cottage garden favorite for centuries. This purple pansy is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box by Rochard, made in Limoges, France.

Thoughts in Bloom

The name pansy comes from the French word pensee, meaning thought, and in the language of flowers it says you are on my mind. Shakespeare's Ophelia hands out pansies for thoughts. Purple adds a note of admiration, making this bloom a gentle way to remember someone dear. Pansies are also among the first flowers planted each spring and among the last to fade in fall, so they keep a garden cheerful for months.
