Pink Toile Sofa Rochard Limoges Box Figurine with Pillows

Plump pillows line the seat of a little sofa covered in pink toile in this charming Rochard furniture box. The pattern is hand-painted on porcelain in Limoges, France, so the sofa looks freshly upholstered for a doll-sized salon.

A Salon in Miniature

Toile de Jouy, with its pastoral scenes printed on pale cloth, has decorated French homes since the 18th century. Rochard borrows that look for this sofa, bringing a classic French textile onto French porcelain. Every pattern is painted by hand, so the toile scenes and the pillow colors vary slightly from box to box.

Decorator's Dream in Pink

Interior designers, antique dealers and anyone who loves rearranging a living room will appreciate the joke and the craft in equal measure. It sits naturally with chair, armoire and fireplace boxes, building a little room on a shelf.

Housewarmings and New Rooms

• A Rochard furniture design
• A fitting present for a new homeowner, a decorator or an upholsterer
• Looks right on a dresser, a vanity or a bookcase in a pink or French country room

Some collectors use it to mark the purchase of a first home or the finish of a long renovation. It is a cheerful reminder that the sofa is finally in place and the pillows are fluffed.
