Standing Pug Artoria Limoges Box Figurine

Square on all four feet, a pug stands ready for inspection in this Artoria figurine box. The wrinkled face and compact body are painted by hand on porcelain in Limoges, France, and this retired design is no longer made.

Wrinkles and Charm

Pugs have been companions since ancient China and later became favorites in European royal courts. Artoria shows this one standing, which gives the figure a sturdy, confident look. Every pug is painted by hand, so the facial markings and coat shading differ from piece to piece.

Retired From the Line

Because Artoria no longer produces this standing pug, it is worth picking up while examples can still be found. Retired breed pieces tend to be sought after by collectors who want a complete dog shelf.

For the Pug Household

• An Artoria design, now retired
• Belongs with pug, toy breed or dog figurine collections
• A fitting present for a pug owner, a rescue volunteer or a dog's birthday

Set it on a desk, a nightstand or a crowded curio, where its compact size and expressive face draw attention. Pug people rarely stop at one, and this standing figure gives a collection a confident anchor beside sitting and sleeping pugs.
