Room for Rent, Songbirds Only

Hanging a birdhouse is one of the simple joys of a garden, and watching a pair of wrens or bluebirds move in is a highlight of spring. This miniature version brings that backyard pleasure indoors, painted by hand with a cheerful, homey look.

Backyard Birding Companions

• Belongs with bird, garden and nature pieces

For Birders and Gardeners

Set it on a sunny windowsill with a view of the feeder, on a potting bench shelf or in a sunroom. It makes a fitting present for a bird watcher, a master gardener, a new homeowner with a big yard, or a retiree with time to keep a life list. Pair it with a good field guide for a thoughtful birthday bundle.

Limoges has turned out porcelain since the late 1700s, ever since kaolin clay turned up near Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche in 1768. Garden themes like this birdhouse show the playful side of that long tradition.
