Rochard Spaniel Puppy Limoges Box Figurine with Bowl and Ball

A spaniel puppy waits beside its food bowl with a ball close at paw, as if dinner and a game of fetch were both about to happen. This Rochard box is hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France.

Fetch Before Supper

Spaniels are famous for soft ears, eager eyes and endless energy, and this puppy shows all three. The bowl and ball tell a small story about daily life with a young dog, the meals, the toys and the hope that someone will throw something. Rochard painters bring out the coat, the eyes and the props by hand, one piece at a time.

Welcome Home, Puppy

This is a natural present for a family that just brought home a cocker or springer spaniel, or for a dog trainer, a veterinarian or a kennel owner who works with sporting breeds. It also makes a sweet memento of a dog who loved its dinner a little too much. Display it near the leash hook by the back door or on a bookshelf next to a favorite dog photo.

Hard-paste porcelain from Limoges is fired at very high heat, which gives these small boxes their bright, clean white base for the painting.
