Dark Blue Scalloped Limoges Box with Sunburst Motif

Rays of a sunburst spread out across this scalloped box, painted over a deep, dark blue that makes the bright pattern glow. It is a Limoges porcelain box made and hand-painted in Limoges, France, with a celestial look all its own.

Sunrise Over Midnight

A sunburst on a dark ground is a striking contrast, like dawn breaking against the last of the night sky. The scalloped edge echoes the radiating rays, so the outline of the box and the painted motif seem to move together. It is a design that reads clearly from across a room.

Celestial Shelf Companions

Collectors who love sun, moon and star themes will find a natural spot for this piece. It also sits well with cobalt eggs, blue and gold boxes and anything with a radiating pattern. A small grouping of dark blue pieces looks especially rich under a cabinet light.

Bright Occasions

The sunburst is a natural symbol for new starts, so this box suits a graduation, a new job, a summer solstice birthday or a recovery worth celebrating. It also pleases anyone drawn to astronomy, sunrise walks or the colors of a clear night. On a desk or bedside table, it brings a small dose of morning light to the room.
